FAQs
Enrollment Process
Interested parents may schedule a visit any time during the year. During the observation they may receive a fee schedule for tuition and an enrollment application. Before the school accepts any child, we also like to have the child spend some time in the classroom to assess readiness. This generally consists of one or two parent accompanied visits, each lasting an hour or two.
Submit an Enrollment Application without payment if you are interested. At the time you are notified that your child is accepted into our program, an application fee of $250 must be submitted. All other fees are due before school begins in September (Deposit, Materials Fee and 1st Month’s Tuition).
Oceanview Montessori does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or nationality. We DO try to balance our student’s ages and gender which may impact which children we are able to accept into our program.
Lunches & Snacks
Oceanview provides two healthy, nutritious snacks per day, one in the morning before circle time and another in the afternoon after rest time. Children bring their own lunches, and we are happy to give them a small warm up if desired.
Field Trips
We generally take 2-3 field trips per year. We take the children to the El Cerrito Fire Station, to visit the local children’s Dentist, and even to San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall for a concert for kids. On trips that we require driving we ask for parent volunteers to join us and help. These trips are lots of fun! Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to take any trips since Covid hit but we hope to be able to do them again soon.
Late Pick-ups
If you know you will be late to pick up your child please notify the school so we can make the necessary arrangements in staffing and let your child know about the change. If a child is picked up later than her/his scheduled time, there will a late fee of $18 per hour. A $1.00 per minute late fee will be applied if the child is left after closing time.
Tuition Agreement
Tuition is payable in monthly installments, due on the first of each month and considered late after the 6th. A late fee of $40 will be added to payments made after the 6th of each month.
The client shall sign a Tuition Agreement and Enrollment Application including 1) The current tuition rate 2) payment schedule 3)policies and 4)refund/withdrawal policies on or before the first day of school or the first day of enrollment, whichever is applicable. A copy will be provided to the client upon request.
Monthly tuition is non-transferable and non-refundable as a result of illness, absence or withdrawal from our program.
Withdrawal Policy
If you feel you must withdraw your child from Oceanview Montessori you are required to provide the school with a 30-day written notice explaining the reason for your request. OVM reserves the right to require that you fulfill your financial obligation to pay the annual tuition until the school is able to fill the spot vacated by your child. If your child is withdrawn at the request of the school, the monthly tuition will be calculated on a monthly pro-rated basis and any other applicable fees will be reimbursed.
